One Skein Scarf

I made this scarf using the pattern from "The Happy Hooker" - another idea for quick Christmas presents this year...

Meet Mac!

This is Mac, so-called because when I was explaining "amigurumi" to my boyfriend he thought I said "I'm making macaroni". It was just too cute to pass up. :)

This is my very first attempt at amigurumi -"the Japanese art of knitting or crocheting small stuffed animals and anthropomorphic creatures. Amigurumi are typically cute animals" (def. from wikipedia). I made him for a one-on-one swap at swap-bot.com. He is already on his way to England and his new home, but he may very soon have several brothers and sisters since he's SO cute and everyone I showed him to ooohhhed and aaawwwed! I hope his new family feels the same. :)

I made him using Marjorie Jones' pattern which can be found here:

The pattern is very easy to follow and she has added several tips to make the assembly easy. Excellent directions!

So, here he is... Meet Mac!

Baby Shower 8-8-08!

Two women at work organized a beautiful baby shower yesterday for one of my direct reports. It was definitely the best baby shower I've ever attended at work and quite possibly the best I've ever attended. They did an outstanding job. The mom-to-be was very surprised and appreciative.

I make it a habit to crochet my leftover yarn into 6-inch granny squares so when I found out about the shower I stitched a bunch together to make a baby afghan. This was the finished result:

Soap Savers

I've started making soap savers - a little bag to hold all those little bits of soap leftover at the end of the bar...

I'm using this pattern from Marlo's Crochet corner (lots of awesome patterns there!):

I'm thinking of making a bunch of these for Christmas gifts with a luxury bar of soap... Hmm...

I made this one for a friends birthday - see the slice of Martini soap peeking out from under the sachet? :)
